UCI announced new dates for the re-start of the 2020 season!
On May 15, the UCI revealed the new calendar for the 2020 Mercedes Benz UCI Mountainbike World Cup, as well as the dates of the next UCI World Championships.
Since cycling competitions were halted mid March, the world health crisis has taken a heavy toll on our sport, with many races postponed or cancelled. After road cycling, mountainbike is the hardest hit.
The 2020 World Championships Cross Country, initially scheduled to take place in Albstadt, Germany (June 26-28) had to be cancelled. The UCI is pleased to announce that the UCI and the town of Leogang, Austria, which was already due to host the 2020 UCI World Championships Downhill, has accepted to add the Cross Country specialties (Olympic discipline, relay and E-Mountainbike) to its programma The UCI World Championships will take place from 5 to 11 October 2020. The UCI underlines that the health of the athletes and all parties concerned remain the overriding priority and that all necessary mesasures will be taken to its regard.
The Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountainbike World Cup 2020 will be re-scheduled as follows: 5-6 September UCI World Cup 1 in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), World Cup 2 12-13 September Val di Sole (Italy), World Cup 3 in 19-20 September Les Gets (France) and 2 rounds of World Cups (number 4 and 5) will be held in Nove Mesto Na Morave in the Czech Republic.
As a consequence of the pandemic, Vallnord (Andorra) and Mount St. Anne (Canada) are cancelled.
We will keep working towards the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, that will be held in 2021.
